KOVACO was founded in 1991 under the name IDČ-KOVAČIČ. The name of the Company corresponded with the founder’s name, Juraj Kovačič. The founder Ing. Kovačič (1940 – 2017) was an ambitious and experienced mechanical engineer, entrepreneur, leader and a true visionary, always looking for ways to make welding easier. He developed advanced original products which greatly improved the customers’ productivity, precision, ergonomics and safety at work.
The first welding positioners were developed in 1991. They were immediately established in the marketplace and became popular with both small and large manufacturing companies throughout Czechoslovakia. The positioners were excellent when working with large weldments, and they especially ensured work efficiency and the safety of the whole process.
The Company expanded by introducing a range of attachments for skid steer loaders and other machinery for agriculture and construction industry. The Company introduced the first ever minibackhoe of its kind in Central Europe. The idea of having two strong production programs became a reality, and the Company became a leader and an innovator in the Central European marketplace.
The change of the Company’s business name from IDČ-KOVAČIČ to KOVACO indicated a transformation of the production, the Company’s expansion and its orientation towards European and global markets.
The Company developed a new kind of welding positioner with programmable axis control. Based on customer demand, KOVACO developed new and innovative solutions in its production programs.
Ing. Igor Kovačič, Juraj the Founder’s son, joined the Company as Partner, making it a family business. The young generation represented by Igor keeps contributing to build KOVACO into a successful and prosperous business.
With the development of the attachment program, KOVACO became the leader in the production and distribution of attachments in Central Europe. KOVACO offers more than 40 different types of attachments for over 600 different construction and agricultural machines.
KOVACO, through its development program, created its own original product – the skid steer electric loader. Subsequently, other products based on an electric drive, where the energy source is a battery, where also developed. The main idea behind these development activities were the modern environmental trends, such as reduction of harmful emissions and excessive noise levels.
In 2021 KOVACO celebrated its 30th anniversary in existence and it becoming a successful constant in the market for welding positioners and attachments. These products are currently exported all over the world.

In our own production hall in Veľká Lehota 210, 966 41, Slovakia. Design, cutting, machining, welding, assembly and testing all happen there, by the same team.
The company was founded in 1991 by Ing. Juraj Kovačič (1940 – 2017) under the name IDČ-KOVAČIČ. In 1999 it was renamed KOVACO. In 2007 his son, Ing. Igor Kovačič, joined as a partner, which made it a family business.
